1、 Introduction to METI filing
METI filing is a regulation of the Ministry of economy, industry and trade of Japan, which can be understood as that products exported to Japan need to be guaranteed by local Japanese commercial companies to file your product production information.
The filing of METI requires PSE certification. PSE is a mandatory safety certification for electrical equipment in Japan, which is divided into round and diamond. At present, 498 products have been listed to enter the Japanese market and must pass PSE safety certification. Among them, 165 kinds of class a products shall obtain the rhombic PSE mark, and 333 kinds of class B products shall obtain the circular PSE mark.
2、 Importance of METI filing
The regulations require that Japanese purchasers must register and declare to METI in Japan within one month after purchasing goods, and must mark the purchaser's name or ID on the products for supervision and management in the future product sales process.
At present, there is no mandatory METI requirement for customs clearance. Only Amazon Japan station requires businesses to provide METI filing and PSE certification, and all products in the PSE certification directory need METI filing.
3、 METI filing process
1. Notification of business is understood as the statement of the Japanese importer, including manufacturer information, product information and signing date;
2. The approval certificate issued by the Ministry of economy and industry of Japan. The importer can issue this approval certificate only after taking the PSE certificate to METI for filing;
3. Japanese purchasers must register with the Ministry of economy, industry and trade of Japan (METI) within one month after purchasing goods. They must have a Japanese business agency registered in Japan before they can apply for registration with METI.
