1、 Introduction to METI Filing
METI filing is a regulation of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, which can be understood as requiring local Japanese trading companies to provide guarantees for filing your product production information for export to Japan.
METI registration requires PSE certification, which is a mandatory safety certification for electrical equipment in Japan, divided into two types: circular and diamond. Currently, 498 products that enter the Japanese market must pass PSE safety certification. Among them, 165 A-class products should obtain the diamond shaped PSE logo, and 333 B-class products should obtain the circular PSE logo.
2、 The Importance of METI Filing
The regulations require Japanese buyers to register and declare with METI within one month after purchasing goods, and must label the buyer's name or ID on the product for supervision and management in the future product sales process.
At present, there is no mandatory METI requirement for customs clearance. Only Amazon Japan requires merchants to provide METI filing and PSE certification, and all products listed in the PSE certification catalog must be METI filed.
3、 METI filing process
1.Notification of business, The understanding is that the Japanese importer declares that the content includes manufacturer information, product information, and signing date;
2. The approval certificate issued by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry requires the importer to file with METI with the PSE sub certificate in order to obtain this approval certificate;
3. Japanese buyers must register and declare with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) within one month after purchasing goods. They must have a Japanese trading company registered in Japan in order to apply for registration with METI.
